Gary Burkett - Regional Council Appointee
Gary Burkett is semi-retired Executive with extensive commercial business acumen, specializing in Human Resources, in numerous industry sectors with 3 blue chip companies (i.e. FedEx, Bell Canada and MolsonCoors) spanning more than 46 years. In addition, Gary has more than 20 years Board experience with for profit companies (e.g. Oakville Enterprises Corporation, Northern Telephone, Nexacor Realty etc.) and volunteer organizations (e.g. Career Edge, Toronto Youth Employment Services etc.).
In addition to serving on the Halton Police Board, Gary was just appointed as a member of the WSIAT (Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal) as an employer representative. Gary is a member of the George Brown College School of Business Program Advisory Committee for the Human Resources Post Graduate Program (2004 to present), a member of The Co-operators Group Limited Service Review Panel (2010 to present) and a Director of the Clearwater Beach Ratepayers Association - Penetanguishene Tiny Township - (2016 to present).
Gary has lived in Oakville for more than 30 years and has also lived and worked in Quebec, Saskatchewan, Alberta and Ontario. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Guelph; is a Certified Human Resources Leader (C.H.R.L) and is member of the Institute of Corporate Directors.
Gary and his wife Marianne of 45 years have four adult children and two grandchildren. Gary successfully completed three marathons, is a golf enthusiast and enjoys cottage life.
