Halton Police Board Welcomes New Board Member

The Halton Regional Police Services Board will welcome new Board Member Curt Allen at its meeting on June 5, 2019.  Mr. Allen was appointed to the Board by the Province of Ontario effective May 10, 2019 to succeed Barb Ferrone.

Retired from Scotiabank in February 2015 where he was Vice President and Chief Security Officer, Mr. Allen brings with him a distinguished background including work as Director of Security for the Government of Ontario where his mandate was the protection of the Government’s electronic networks.  Prior to this role he served as Royal Canadian Mounted Police Deputy Commissioner for Ontario and Quebec, Deputy Commissioner National Headquarters and Deputy Commissioner National Police Services and Technical Infrastructure, following his work as RCMP Chief Human Resources Officer.  Among his many professional associations Mr. Allen is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police and Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police and the Conference Board of Canada Security Executives Council.

Mr. Allen resides in Oakville with his wife where he supports a number of community organizations including youth hockey and baseball leagues and children’s hospitals.

Other members on the board include Mayor Rob Burton, Gary Burkett, Ingrid Hann, Councillor Jeff Knoll, Councillor Clark Somerville and Jason Wadden.

The Halton Regional Police Services Board is a seven member civilian board that provides strategic oversight to the Halton Regional Police Service. Under the Police Services Act, the board has legislated responsibility for the police service’s operating and capital budgets; strategic planning; policies and priorities.

The police board’s fundamental responsibility is to ensure adequate and effective police services are provided to the citizens of Halton Region.
